Roman Brändli Biography

My name is Roman Brändli and I was born 12th May 1978 in a small town called Aarau in Switzerland. My father, a doctor, and my mother, a nurse, brought me up there. 1998 I finished a four years of study as a typographer in a printer company in Aarau. After spending some time in Australia I started working in a company called “one marketing services”, in Zürich, which is a provider for marketing concepts, internet appearances and print-designs. I still work there as a graphic-designer. Some time ago I reduced my working hours a little bit to give myself the opportunity to intensify my hobby. Photography is more to me than a spare time occupation: it is a passion. Pictures can tell stories; they express details which one wouldn’t realise in every day life. Many times there are the really small things that have complete different effect in close-ups. Therefore I specialised “macro photography”, small things - close up.

My motivation as an artist is to start a work unlimited and spontaneously and to complete it up to perfection. When I work within the macro range photography I dip into a world full of contrasts and colours. In situations like these I can ease and forget everything which happens around me. I am also interested in the reactions of humans to my pictures and I hope to arrange the world a bit more colourful with them.
