Cube Arround the World

Idea
The cubes start their journey from Switzerland in all directions around the globe. They are given to an artist and this artist again gives it to another artist. You can use the cube in whatever way you prefer. It can be painted on five sides, glued on, grinded, drilled, adorned, or even returned to its original appearance. It can also be used for photography or film. Poetically talented artist might inscribe it with poetry or prose or a song text. The cube can be used in whichever form of art you prefer. There are no bounds to your creativity.

For the following exceptions: The inscribed side must be untouched for future artists to get the gist of what this project is about. In addition the cube should neither be burned or otherwise tampered with in order to maintain its original structure!

It is important for the cube to be handed on after four weeks of possession. In order to get it going in a steady pace.

Documentation
We would like every artist to send us two pictures of the cube. One when you receive it and another right before you hand it on. You can send us the picture by e-mail, and in case you don't have access to internet you might mail it to our London office. Optionally you might want to photo-document your work in progress. Please attach to your photo the number inscribed on the cube for us to know which cube is which.
We are very much interested in the biography of our cubes. We would therefore appreciate as much information as possible about the time in which the cube was your foster child.
Do not forget to inform us about your name and address and what keeps you busy in life (when not messing around with wooden cubes).
Please also attach the name and address of the artist you hand the cube to next. This way we insure to not lose the cubes' traces. All this information is necessary to keep the cube travelling.

All the photos and documentation, indeed all the information you send us, will be published on our website www.style-instinct.com This is where you can follow the cubes' journey and see the changes in their apprearances. Your information will be published immediately to keep you updated.

The journey
5 cubes left their home in Zürich on the 23rd of August 2005.
Each cube left to the north, south, east or west, and some have already left Switzerland. We would like, if possible, for the cubes to travel on in the direction they originally left. The cubes can stay in the same place and be used by several artists, but they should always travel in the direction they are destined to. A fifth cube stays in Zürich and travels about aimlessly.
The goal of the journey, if there is one, is our London office. Should a cube be destroyed so that you can't work with it anymore; or should it take on an extreme form would we like you to post it to us or get in contact with us so that we can pick it up. Whatever form it takes on, the aim is for the cube to return home.

Exhibition
Style-instinct will, in accordance to this international project, organise exhibitions regularly where we will document the present history of this project and where returned cubes will be on display. To this event we will invite certain artists which have contributed to this project.

More cubes
Style-instinct will send more cubes on their way in the future. Should we have raised your interest to participate in our project you can send us your address. We will then contact you as soon as a cube is heading your way. Of course you can always try to contact the artists which are currently working on the cube and ask him/her to hand the cube on to you.
